PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Former Presidential Candidate and Secretary of State John Kerry visited Powell’s on Sunday night and talked toa standing-room crowd, filled with over 300 people, about his newest memoir, “Every Day is Extra.”
That book, according to Kerry, covers a life filled with democratic experiences and views. He wrote about his time in Vietnam and his numerous campaigns. He also talked about the current state of the country.
“Our democracy is at risk now,” he said, “and I write at length about it in this book.”
This week, Kerry’s conversations with Iranian leaders and other leaders in an attempt to preserve the 2015 Iran nuclear deal caught the attention of President Donald Trump.
John Kerry had illegal meetings with the very hostile Iranian Regime, which can only serve to undercut our great work to the detriment of the American people. He told them to wait out the Trump Administration! Was he registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act? BAD!

Kerry countered that claim on Sunday night.
“I tweeted out that the conversation that Donald Trump should be concerned about is the one between Paul Manafort and Robert Mueller,” Kerry said.
But that wasn’t the only jab Kerry took at the President, adding that Trump wouldn’t likely attend his book signing, anyway.
“Those guys aren’t into book reading,” Kerry said, “they’re into book burning.”
Kerry also talked about the bond he had with John McCain. You can watch that and much more in the full Facebook live video below.
