A STOWAWAY sparked panic aboard an airliner after he was spotted climbing onto the wing as the plane prepared to take off.
Footage filmed by a passenger yesterday at the international airport in Lagos also showed terrified passengers who were alarmed by the intruder who was reportedly trying to enter the aircraft’s cabin.
Panicked passengers appeared eager to flee the aircraft and called crew members to open the exit doors.
It was not clear how the man, who has not been identified, reached the Azman Air plane or what his intentions were.
This comes just days after a stowaway fell from a Kenya Airways jet as it came to land at London Heathrow.
Software engineer graduate John Baldock, who is in his 20s, was just inches from the falling body, which left a crater in the garden of the £2.3million home he rents in Clapham, South London.
Nigerian aviation authorities say an intruder who climbed onto the wing of a commercial plane that was preparing to fly from the country’s busiest airport has been detained.
Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria spokeswoman Henrietta Yakubu said the Azman Air plane had been waiting for clearance from air traffic controllers.
She said it taxied back for a “thorough check” before departing for Port Harcourt.
It was not clear how the man reached the plane or what his intention was.
But it was the latest Nigerian airport security breach. In 2017, passengers on a private jet in Lagos said thieves forced open the cargo door and stole luggage.
